Make a Back To School Homework Helper

                                                     ****Affiliate Links included in post****

Back To School season is in full swing!  Stores are getting their shelves stocked and ready for the massive onslaught of consumers who will want to buy everything their students need.  Many kiddos will want the latest and greatest regarding designs and styles for their brand new supplies.  All of this can add up to a significant expense, and headache for a lot of parents.  Then once school begins, the dreaded homework will slowly creep back into their lives as well.  Be ready this year by creating your own Homework Helper!

If your kitchen table is THE place where everyone gathers to do their homework, then why not have one tote to coral ALL the supplies every one will need to finish their homework assignments in a flash and get the dinner table cleared off in the blink of an eye!

Begin by collecting some cardboard boxes, and gather some tools.  Something to cut the cardboard, and tape with, adhesive, and duct tape.  A marking tool is also useful.

Arrange the boxes into a working arrangement to create your caddy.  For this project, one long narrow box, two juice containers, and one shallow tray were used.

The next step is to cut down the boxes to size.  This will depend on the types of boxes you gather. Pleasantly arrange your receptacles, mark where things will go.  Make any adjustments necessary.

When you are confident where everything will go just begin taping all the sides of each box that you want to alter the look of.
Adhere each component into the primary container.

Cover the entire outside area with duct tape.  Add two handles with the rope.  Finally, glue one long piece of string around the whole box.

View all the steps in the following video:

St. Patricks Day Decor DIY

How to make an easy, fast, and inexpensive Teacher's or Colleague's gift for St. Patrick's Day.  Since everybody (well a lot of people) like to say they are Irish even if they are not on this day, here is a quick project you can make in a short amount of time.  Give this and celebrate!

The Lucky Leprechaun Hat was inspired by the generous gift of paint by Rust-Oleum.  When I first received the cans of colorful , and eyed the luscious green spray paint (Gloss Rich Jade) I immediately thought of Leprechauns and St. Patty's Day, and Luck!

To do the project, here is what I did.

I took a small terracotta pot (I chose it because of the wide brim that looks a bit like that of a hat), spray painted it with Rust-Oleum Gloss Protective Enamel in Gloss Rich Jade, and let the paint dry.

To imitate the sash on a Leprechaun's hat I cut a piece of gold colored cardstock to size, made some slits and slid a piece of black ribbon through the "buckle."  I used a dab of hot glue to secure the black trim to the "Hat."

I cut a piece of floral foam to insert into the pot and used some hot glue with my Ad Tech Glue Gun to secure the block.

With some more glue, I covered the foam and filled the gaps with the shredded paper (or Easter Grass).

I chose some foam clovers, adhered them to each pencil with some more hot glue, and poked the pencils into the floral foam.

I added a bit more glue and "Grass" to cover the holes.

To finish off the Lucky Hat, I glued a few gold foil wrapped chocolates in the "Grass."

Many of the supplies I used to make the "Lucky Leprechaun Hat" came from the Dollar Tree and hauls I did (here is the Haul video )  link here.

Wrapping Paper How To with Annmakes

How to wrap those last minute gifts when you have no store bought gift wrap left?  Here is an idea.  As a small gift from me to you, my viewers.  Grab some kraft paper or any paper for that matter and quickly transform it into original gift wrapping paper.

Go for a country rustic look with some kraft colored paper, or use some nice new white or colored paper.  Gather some stamps, printing presses, or found objects.  Dip your chosen tools in paint or ink and print away.  If it is handmade it is even more special.

It is also a project you can do with the kids.  Have fun most of all.

Happy Holidays!

Chibitronics Bird House

Chirping with chibitronics Bird House how to today as part of the DCC blog hop forApril.  Hi, thanks for hopping on over to my blog today to check out my latest project using Chibi Lights Led Circuit Stickers from Chibi®Tronics.  I am "electrifying my World" one crafty project at a time, and so can you.  It is easier than you may think, and oh so fun!

Check out what all the Designers have made and enter the contest for a chance to win your very own Chibi Lights kit.

Here is a look at my project:

Note the little bird is out so the lights in his house are turned off, as he is very conscious of conserving energy.  Below when birdie is home the lights come on:

This project was achieved by using some Chibi Lights that come in an easy and well explained kit.  Try it yourself and let your imagination soar!

Supplies:
Chibi Lights Led Circuit Stickers by Chibi® Tronics (provided to me)
Wooden Birdhouse making kit from the Dollar Tree (I purchased)
Acrylic paints from Deco Art (Sponsor program)
Faux leaves, nest, and bird Dollar Tree (I purchased)
Home Tweet Home sign made by me with a scrap of paper and some decorative adhesive tape from my stash.

To make I assembled the house following the kit instructions, leaving the front panel off.
I painted the house, let it dry, and then applied the copper tape, and Chibi  led circuit stickers according to the Kit's instruction.  I used hot glue to adhere the leaves, nest, and bird.

Thanks again for stopping.  Please leave a comment, follow me if you are not already.  Click on the this link to be brought to the DCC Blog and start hopping to the other Designer's blogs.
