Using Bleach on a Valentine

Yup!  I risk it all for the sake of creativity.  Over at the Blue Moon Creation Crafting Station I had to make a sample inspiration piece for the current "use Bleach" challenge.  I forgot to crack open a window! Well, actually It is so cold here, I mean within seconds one can get frost bite just stepping outside without any protection!  So I left all the windows closed and I thought I would use just a few drops of the nasty stuff!  Well, using it pure and undiluted is very different from just cleaning with a solution of the stuff!  Anyways, it made me sick but hey I got the job done!  So here it is:

I used some cute polymer clear stamps from Get Inky  (now Blue Moon Creation), bleach, black Ranger Archival ink, a metal heart, and black card stock from the Dollar Store (Dollarama) ,  red card stock, and white paper from Staples, and a white card from Michaels.

It is a simple card to make but what is unique is the effect I got from using the Gel Bleach pen by Clorox as the medium for stamping .  The bleach removed some red and left a raised effect in white.  I recommend that you try this one day but just remember to do this in a properly ventilated area!

For both cards I used the New GI Halloween 2013 stamps.

I stamped with Ranger archival Black ink and inked the edges with Ranger Distress Black Soot ink.  For the bat card I painted with Lumin Arte water colour H2O's:  Mango Mamba, Siam White, China Black.  The bat's wings wings and ears were glitered with Martha Stewart glitter and I used Sook Wang Score tape.
For the broom card I also used Stampin' Up! pastels to add some colour and Black Diamond stickles by ranger for a little bling.

Fake it Fridays #5:Make Your Own Custom Washi Like Tape.

Hi everyone.  Welcome to another Fake It Friday!.  Today I am going to show you how to make your own custom washi tape (sort of).  Ok, this is made with regular masking tape, it tears easily so it is pretty close to the real thing.  To make your own decorative a.k.a washi tape you will need:
Masking or painter's tape (any width will do)  some rubber stamps(optional) and ink.  I like to use a black dye ink such as Memento. You will also need a waxy type paper base to temporarily hold the tape in place.  I save the sheets of sticker backing just for this purpose.  Also, something to colour with, copics and Sharpies work great.

Stick a piece, as long as you want, onto the non sticky waxy paper.  (I like to cut a 12" +, in case I want to use it on a scrapbook layout).

Ink up some stamps and stamp away on the tape.  Let it dry completely.  Test with your finger to make sure the stamped image is completely dry.  Colour in the design if you wish.

note: in the sample above I used the new Holidays 2013 stamp with the string of lights from Get Inky! stamps for Blue Moon Creation.

You can also forego the stamping part and just doodle on the tape with inks.

To store your tapes you can keep them on the sheet and store in a file or plastic page protector.  I also have stored my homemade tapes onto empty rolls of tape (plastic) and empty spools for thread, I like to recycle.

note: I used random stamps from my kids toy box here

I hope you enjoyed this and are inspired to go and make something of your own.  Thanks for viewing.
By the way I love comments from my viewers (the comment linky can be finicky if you came here from another site, blogger has issues, sorry)  and if you want to keep up with my latest projects just let me know in one of the boxes in the side bar.

Summer, Sun and Fun!

It is Summer and time to have Fun!  For this week's challenge over at the Get Inky! blog, I came up with this:

It is a foam can cooler that I stamped on.  I used the Delightful jars stamp set by Get Inky!, some staz on ink and some sharpies to get a permanent image onto the foam.  I also made a little flag for the paper straw using the lemon from the same set.  It is surprisingly simple to stamp onto the foam with clear stamps.  Because the jar stamp is so big I used it non mounted and just rolled it onto the foam and pressed firmly.

For more ideas check out the blog and give the challenge a try, there are some nice prizes.  Now go Get Inky!

Thanks for viewing.

ps. I love comments and getting new followers, so please comment below and sign up in the side bars

Red, White and Blue

Hi there, my team mates over at Get Inky! are feeling rather patriotic lately and are posting their versions of the current challenge: Red, White, and Blue.  Here is my twist on the project.

I made a Victorian style inspired lace and paper cone which holds candies and a sentiment for the recipient.  So it is like a gift and a card in one.

To make the cone I simply took a double sided sheet of scrapbook paper which I trimmed down to an 8 inch square.  I drew the top of a heart in the upper right hand corner to make the scallops.  I trimmed the paper and put double sided tape along the left side straight edge.  I shaped the paper into a cone and pressed down the opposite side to the taped side.  I used a Doily about 8 " also and cut out the ;ace outer ring.  By using a tacky glue on the inside of the cone and by slightly pleating the doily lace, i glued the lace to the inside top portion of the cone.  Using a stapler and staples I affixed the tri colour ribbon to the top to act as a handle.  with a piece of the doily centre I covered the base of the cone by gluing the white paper over the red paper.

The front panel was made with white cardstock and a Stampin' Up! Sizzix Big Label Die cut.  I had printed the Buzzing Bees Get Inky! by Blue Moon Creation digital on the card stock first.  Afterwards I used Scor-Tape and extra fine micro glitter by Elizabeth Designs Monochromatic in warm tones.  Finally, I coloured using some alcohol based markers.

I hope you enjoy.  Please visit the Get Inky! blog where I am on the Design Team and see other examples.

I am also entering this card/cone in the Red, White and Blue challenge at ABC Challenges, the Stamping Dragon., and Created With Love.

I would so appreciate if you left me some comment loving too here at the bottom of my post as well as the Get Inky! blog.  Don't forget you can follow me by checking in the Blog loving and follower tab on the left and right.

Cupcake Curls Card

Hi.  I had so much fun making this card the other day as a guest Designer  for Get Inky!  I made a cupcake and it has no calories!  Ha, ha, ha.

Seriously, I am so happy that I get to play with some NEW  "GET INKY!" Stamps  from Blue Moon Creation.  Yeah!   For my first project I got to play with the "Cupcake Curls" Digi stamp.http://getinkychallenge.blogspot.com  Being interested in Mixed Media, hence everything artsy and crafty, I wanted to make something special.  So with several sheets of Bazzil card stock, many Copic markers, some glitter and flock, and LOTS of adhesives, I was off.

My recipe for this yummy card called for a 5x61/2" card that I made from a pink-coral card stock, a strip of white card stock, which I ran through a paper crimper to give it that bakery cupcake liner look and a piece of Blue Aqua satin ribbon, for the base.  With a scrap piece of pink card stock I embossed that with a Sizzix folder by Tim Holtz "Spirals".  I inked the edges of the piece with Distress ink by Ranger: "Tumbled Glass", and I gently rubbed some more Distress ink "Spun Sugar" over the embossed swirls.  The pink piece was adhered to the front of the base.

The best part, the cupcake, I made with a Digital download of the "Cupcake Curls " stamp.  I printed it out to be approximately 3.75", just under 4".  More cardstock was used for this.  Now with my Copics I coloured the cupcake with E93, V04, BG000, BG10, and BG00. I cut the cupcake in three parts: The Icing, the cake base, and the ribbon.   I glued white flock powder with a dash of extra  fine glitter by Stampin' Up! onto the ribbon part.  Using double sided foam adhesives I stuck the ribbon to the cake base.  Used more foam adhesive to adhere the bottom part to the swirly pink paper, and with more adhesive foam glued the icing part on top.  I used glass seed beads (from my stash) as the sprinkles for the top of the cupcake.  Finally, I dabbed tacky glue to the edge of the front, white part, of the card and sprinkled clear white glitter (3 Bugs) to resemble rock sugar.

Enjoy!  This one will not go to your hips. ;)
